What is numerology?

In short, it is the study of numbers that has its roots in several ancient cultures like Vedic Hinduism, Hebrew mysticism, Chaldean (ancient Mesopotamia) and Pythagorean theories of Greece. According to its practitioners, there exists a relationship between numbers and everything in the Universe, and that the numeric value of a person’s name can shape their life.

Numerology states that every number has specific traits related to it. Parents can mold their child’s life and future by simply choosing the right baby names. The following are the numeric values of every letter in the alphabet:

A, J and S are 1

B, K and T are 2

C, L and U are 3

D, M and V are 4

E, N and W are 5

F, O and X are 6

G, P and Y are 7

H, Q and Z are 8

I and R are 9

The way to calculate the value of your name is to add the numeric value of every letter of your name. For example, if your name is MARK WIGHT, your value is 4 + 1 + 9 + 2 + 5 + 9 + 7 + 8 + 2 = 43. Since the value is in double digits, you can further reduce it by adding the two digits. So, 4 + 3 = 7. Thus, the numerological value of the name MARK is 7.

This is the number that will determine your personality traits and talents.

There are only two exceptions to the double-digit rule. If your name equals 11 or 22 then you don’t add these numbers together. This is because these are “master numbers” which have special significance in numerology.

Numerology has several numbers associated with a person which can provide a well-rounded insight into the person’s personality and future. These numbers are:

Destiny number

This is also known as the ‘name number’. It is calculated by adding all the letters of your first and last names like above. It describes your personality, your objectives in life and also reveals any possible obstacles.
